Sotto i nostri occhi
La quinta edizione de La Notte della fotografia lancia la seconda Open call rivolta a tutti i fotografi, senza distinzione di provenienza ed età, che abbiano un lavoro coerente ed originale in linea con il tema di quest’anno. La giuria internazionale selezionerà fino a 5 autori che si aggiungeranno alle proiezioni ufficiali con i fotografi invitati dalla direzione artistica. Quest’anno, diversamente dalla prima open call che era completamente gratuita, abbiamo dovuto introdurre un simbolico fee per far fronte alle molte spese di gestione; ai fotografi selezionati verrà comunque offerto il pernottamento a Piacenza la sera delle proiezioni e il brunch della domenica mattina in una location particolare.
Il tema
In questa quinta edizione il tema sarà “Sotto i nostri occhi”: cerchiamo sguardi che sappiano cogliere l’essenza di quello che accade intorno a noi, che siano eventi attuali, anche scottanti o drammatici, che riguardano la collettività e il mondo circostante, o storie più intime che possano però avere un valore universale e raccontare qualcosa del mondo in cui stiamo vivendo. Questi non sono tempi né belli, né facili, ma cerchiamo anche storie che sappiano cogliere anche aspetti positivi, di ricerca e di speranza per un futuro meno cupo. Quello che accade sotto i nostri occhi spesso non si rivela in maniera eclatante, ma ha comunque urgenza di essere raccontato.
Regolamento
Per partecipare alla Open Call, compilare il modulo presente al link https://forms.gle/x9j46Z4zcpwN6eno6 caricando una cartella compressa .zip al link indicato nel modulo, contenente minimo 12 / massimo 30 fotografie in formato JPG, risoluzione 100 dpi, dimensione 2000 pixel per il lato maggiore, oltre a breve testo esplicativo del lavoro e breve profilo biografico dell'autore (formato biografia .doc, .docx, no pdf) e contatti. La cartella dovrà essere nominata Cognome_Nome_Titolo_lavoro.zip. Caricare inoltre nel modulo la ricevuta del bonifico per il pagamento della quota di iscrizione pari a 10 euro. Il bonifico dovrà essere intestato all'Associazione Fase Luce utilizzando l'iban IT56I0515612600CC0000044839.
L'open call apre il 31 gennaio e terminerà il 1 marzo 2026, data entro la quale dovranno pervenire le candidature. La giuria, le cui decisioni saranno insindacabili, si riunirà entro il mese di marzo e comunicherà l’esito positivo ai soli fotografi selezionati, oltre a comunicarlo sui canali social. Le immagini restano ovviamente di proprietà degli autori e verranno utilizzate, se selezionate, esclusivamente per la proiezione a la comunicazione de La Notte della fotografia.

Before our eyes
The fifth edition of The Night of Photography launches the second Open Call aimed at all photographers, regardless of origin or age, who have a coherent and original body of work in line with this year's theme. The international jury will select up to 5 artists who will join the official screenings with the photographers invited by the artistic direction. This year, unlike the first open call which was completely free, we had to introduce a nominal fee to cover the many management expenses; selected photographers will still be offered accommodation in Piacenza on the night of the screenings and a Sunday morning brunch in a special location.
The theme
In this fifth edition, the theme will be "Before Our Eyes": we are looking for perspectives that can capture the essence of what is happening around us, whether current events, even pressing or dramatic, that affect the community and the surrounding world, or more intimate stories that can nonetheless have a universal value and tell something about the world we are living in. The times we are living through are neither good nor easy, but we also seek stories that can capture positive aspects, of inquiry and hope for a less bleak future. What happens before our eyes often does not reveal itself in a striking way, yet it still urgently needs to be told.
Terms and conditions
To participate in the Open Call, fill out the form at the link https://forms.gle/x9j46Z4zcpwN6eno6 by uploading a compressed .zip folder to the link in the form containing, a minimum of 12 / maximum of 30 photographs in JPG format, 100 dpi resolution, 2000 pixels on the longest side, along with a brief text of the work and a short bio of the author (biography format .doc, .docx, no pdf) and contact information. The folder must be named LastName_FirstName_WorkTitle.zip. Also upload the receipt of the bank transfer for the registration fee of 10 euros in the form. The transfer must be made out to Associazione Fase Luce using the IBAN IT56I0515612600CC0000044839.
The open call opens on January 31 and will close on March 1, 2026, by which date applications must be submitted. The jury, whose decisions will be final, will meet by the end of March and will notify only the selected photographers of a positive outcome, in addition to communicating it on social media. The images will, of course, remain the property of their authors and, if selected, will be used exclusively for the screening and promotion of La Notte della fotografia.

Steve Bisson è un educatore, curatore e scrittore. È il presidente del Dipartimento di Fotografia al Paris College of Art e cofondatore del programma internazionale Blurring the Lines, che promuove il dialogo intra-accademico e riconosce l'eccellenza nei lavori di laurea in fotografia e arti visive. È anche il fondatore dell'Istituto Urbanautica, una rivista di antropologia visiva online che è diventata un riferimento fondamentale per studiosi e appassionati di fotografia. Bisson è direttore editoriale della casa editrice Penisola Edizioni e direttore artistico di Lab27, un centro culturale che si occupa di temi all'incrocio tra la creazione di immagini, la fotografia e la società. Negli ultimi due decenni, Steve Bisson ha curato più di cento eventi, tra cui mostre e festival, e ha scritto numerosi saggi e pubblicazioni. Ha collaborato con istituzioni culturali ed educative in tutto il mondo e mette continuamente in discussione il ruolo delle immagini nella società.
Steve Bisson is an educator, curator, and writer. He is the Chair of Photography at the Paris College of Art and co-founder of the international program Blurring the Lines, which fosters intra-academic dialogue and recognizes outstanding graduate work in photography and the visual arts. He is also the founder of the Urbanautica Institute, an online visual anthropology journal that has become a key reference for scholars and photography enthusiasts. Bisson serves as Editor-in-Chief of the publishing house Penisola Edizioni and as Art Director of Lab27, a cultural center that advocates for issues at the intersection of image-making, photography, and society. Over the past two decades, Steve Bisson has curated more than a hundred events—including exhibitions and festivals—and authored numerous essays and publications. He has collaborated with cultural and educational institutions worldwide and continuously questions the role of images in society.
Alfio Tommasini
Nato in un piccolo villaggio alpino della Svizzera Italiana, Alfio Tommasini è fotografo, curatore e direttore artistico del Verzasca Foto Festival, che ha co-fondato nel 2013. Ha collaborato con diverse realtà culturali, in particolare in America Latina, ed è attualmente curatore ospite del RAK Arts Festival (EAU). Il suo lavoro fotografico esplora il rapporto tra le persone e i paesaggi che abitano. Ha esposto a livello internazionale e ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti, tra cui il primo premio agli Encontros da Imagem, il primo premio alla Biennale Phodar e la medaglia di bronzo agli Sony World Photography Awards. Le sue immagini sono apparse su The Guardian, British Journal of Photography, Le Temps, The North Face Mountain e Jiazazhi Press China, tra gli altri. Il suo libro Via Lactea è pubblicato da Edition Patrick Frey.
Born in a small alpine village in Italian-speaking Switzerland, Alfio Tommasini is a photographer, curator, and artistic director of the Verzasca Foto Festival, which he co-founded in 2013. He has collaborated with various cultural realities, particularly in Latin America, and is currently guest curator of the RAK Arts Festival (UAE). His photographic work explores the relationship between people and the landscapes they inhabit. He has exhibited internationally and received several awards, including first prize at Encontros da Imagem, first prize at the Phodar Biennial, and the bronze medal at the Sony World Photography Awards. His images have appeared in The Guardian, British Journal of Photography, Le Temps, The North Face Mountain, and Jiazazhi Press China, among others. His book Via Lactea is published by Edition Patrick Frey.
Annamaria Belloni
Annamaria Belloni è nata a Genova e vive e lavora a Piacenza come fotografa, curatrice e docente. Dopo essersi laureata in Lingue e Letterature Straniere, trascorre alcuni anni in Germania. Si avvicina quindi alla fotografia e agli studi sul linguaggio fotografico, concentrandosi prevalentemente sulla figura e sulla condizione dell'uomo contemporaneo e sul suo rapporto con l’ambiente. Ha esposto sia in Italia che all'estero, selezionata in numerosi festival internazionali (Sidney, Helsinki, Discovery Award a Braga, Fotografia Europea, Ragusa Photo festival, finalista al premio Terna ecc.); si occupa inoltre della promozione di autori che lavorano nell'ambito della ricerca fotografica attraverso la curatela di mostre. Attualmente è direttore artistico de “La notte della fotografia” a Piacenza. Dal 2010 tiene stabilmente corsi e workshop di fotografia e linguaggio fotografico. A maggio 2021 esce il libro "Supernatura" edito da Postcart.
Annamaria Belloni was born in Genoa and lives and works in Piacenza as a photographer, curator and teacher. After graduating in Foreign Languages and Literatures, she spent a few years in Germany. She then approached photography and studies on photographic language, focusing mainly on the figure and condition of contemporary human being and its relationship with the environment. She has exhibited both in Italy and abroad, selected in numerous international festivals (Sydney, Helsinki, Discovery Award in Braga, Fotografia Europea, Ragusa Photo festival, finalist for the Terna award, etc.); she also deals with the promotion of authors who work in the field of photographic research through the curation of exhibitions. She is currently artistic director of "La notte della fotografia" in Piacenza. Since 2010 she has been holding courses and workshops in photography and photographic language. In May 2021 the book "Supernatura" published by Postcart was released.
